Birds Barbershop / E. 6th Street —

Austin, TX / Retail, Barbershop

The original East 6th Street Birds Barbershop location had its heart and soul intact. The Birds team wasn’t looking for a full makeover but rather a refresh of the new location down the street. By taking the best parts and honing in on the Austin legacy brand’s design and culture, Mark Odom Studio expanded and updated the six chair shop –now fully curated to maintain the lived in, authentic feel every Birds Barbershop embodies.

“Design for the new shop features large black and yellow interior murals by Bryan Keplesky, reminiscent of his work in the original East 6th location. Architecture for the six-chair shop was helmed by Mark Odom Studio with construction by Franklin Alan, both Austin mainstays who have worked together on four other Birds locations.”

“Mark Odom Studio utilizes vibrant colors in its design to delineate different areas within a smaller retail space. Bright pink is used for the retail zone, while black and white characterize the lobby, and yellow murals mark the stylist area. This strategic use of color helps to segment the shop, making it easier for customers to identify various zones within the store.” — Erin Nies, Principal, Mark Odom Studio
